Unlike the rumours that are flying around, Rebellion Racing is not going to launch a GT3 program after their World Endurance Championship exit. The Swiss racing outfit has been a part of the WEC since 2011 in the LMP1 category and they have finally decided to call it a day.
Rebellion might have hinted at launching a GT3 program to keep the team involved in sports car racing, but a Twitter post today confirms that they have no intentions in such plans and will be focusing on their Dakar Rally venture instead.
Earlier this season, Rebellion snatched their first ever LMP1 victory at the 4 Hours of Shanghai, at the same time being the first privateer team in WEC history to get a pole position and converting it into a win.
Rebellion Racing operated two Lola B12/60 prototypes in 2011-2013, and two Rebellion R-One cars from 2014-2016. In 2017, they moved to the LMP2 category with two Oreca 07 cars.
