The world of F1 is pretty rough and by the sound of it, Sebastian Vettel is facing quite a rocky time at Scuderia Ferrari. It has been the German’s dream to drive for the Italian outfit, with hopes of mirroring his idol’s success in the 90’s. But since he joined the team in 2015, the Prancing Horse has yet to see a World Championship in hand.
According to La Gazetta dello Sport, Ferrari is offering a one-year extension to his contract at a price of 12 million Euros. It may sound a lot to us, but it is nowhere to what Vettel is looking to settle with. He is not willing to give up his salary which is around three times of what was offered, and he is seeking for a two-year contract instead.
And to put things into perspective, his young teammate, Charles LeClerc gets the same amount that and is already tied up with a contract that spans into 2024.
And that is not the end of things just yet as it is also reported that Ferrari has actually shortlisted three drivers should negotiations fail with Vettel. Apparently Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz and Antonio Giovinazzi are in their sights to possibly fill in the four-time world champion seat should it be available for the 2021 season.
How do you think things will pan out? Will Vettel leave his spot at Ferrari? Who will possibly replace his seat later on? If he does leave, to which team will he be headed to?
