Yesterday Sime Darby Auto Performance launched the new 911 Speedster through a virtual video launch. The new 911 Speedster incorporates Porsche’s values of purism, lightweight design, efficiency and a pleasurable open-top driving experience, whilst consciously drawing parallels with the 356 through many of its design features.

Powered by the GT3’s N/A Flat-6 engine mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, Porsche has done some minor tweaks such as high pressure fuel-injectors and improved throttle bodies which increased 10 more horsepower,  giving it 510HP at 9000 RPM and maximum torque of 470Nm at 6250 RPM. The new 911 Speedster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h.

Other features that come in standard such as Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and PASM with sports tuning and lowering by 25 millimeters. The 911 Speedster equips a set of 20-inch forged Speedster alloy wheels with central locks plus standard option PCCB brakes (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake) hiding behind.

“Porsche has always represented a dream, and the Speedster concept was aimed at paying tribute to an idea that runs through the history of Porsche. As the idea of the Speedster was conceived to commemorate 70 years of sports car fascination, the launch of the new 911 Speedster in our market could not be timelier. Coinciding with Sime Darby Auto Performance’s 10 years as the Porsche partner in Malaysia, we are thrilled to be introducing this limited edition model to mark this milestone,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

With only a limited number of these will be coming in Malaysia, the price of the 911 Speedster starts from RM 2.7 million before options. The car will be on display for a limited time, exclusively at Porsche Centre Sungai Besi from 13 June 2020. Visitors are encouraged to make prior appointments with PCSB to performt social distancing.
