F1 Confirms First 8 Races of 2020, Starting This July at Austria!

Tired of almost half a year without F1? Well, we are glad to be the bearer of good news in these tough times as F1 had recently released a revised 2020 racing calendar with 8 races confirmed to take place as early as July!

From July to September, the F1 community will be superbly busy as they will be moving from one venue to another with almost no break in between. This revised schedule will kick off at Austria’s Red bull Ring where they will be hosting a double header on 3-5 and 10-12 July.

After packing up from Austria, they will then move on to the Hungaroring at Hungary for Round 3 on July 17-19, before taking a weekend off for the next race in Great Britain. Silverstone will be the next venue to hold a back-to-back race on 31 July – 2 August, and 7-9 August.

The season will then head to Spain for Round 6 on 14-16 August, and will take another weekend off before going to Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps for Round 7 on 28-30 August. Finally, Round 8 will be held at Monza, Italy on 4-6 September.

Although there are only eight races listed for the time being, F1 is aiming to get 15-18 races in total for the 2020 season. Expect an updated list of races and venues to be released in the next couple of weeks as they evaluate the current COVID-19 and where they could run the races with minimal risk to all the teams and essential personnel needed to run a race safely.

“We are pleased to be able to set out our opening eight race calendar today and look forward to publishing our full calendar in the coming weeks. I want to thank every promoter and partner for their support and ongoing commitment to Formula 1,” said Chase Carey, Chairman and CEO of Formula 1.

It is also worth noting that all these events will be held behind closed doors with strict guidelines to minimize any risk of infection to anyone. Steps include regular testing, reduction of personnel, isolated travels and social distancing.

All the races will be supported by Formula 2 and Formula 3.
