Fans of driving games rejoice as Playground Games, the developer of the beloved Forza series, has finally shown us the trailer for the upcoming Forza Horizon installment. Named ‘Forza Horizon 5’, the driving game follows the same theme as previous games as an open world driving game. However, Playground Games has taken it up a notch with Forza Horizon 5 as the graphics in this game looks hyper-realistic.
Taking place in Mexico, Forza Horizon 5 features a diverse map that puts the previous games to shame. From sandstorms in the desert to the white sandy beaches, you can see that the scenery and landscape is something that the developers are highly focused on. Not only are the scenery and cars rendered in high detail, the scene is so realistic that you can see the individual needles on the cactus in the desert. The geography details are based on 12K HDR imagery that the developers did 24 hour shoots to capture the actual Mexican skies.
The campaign mode features an expedition for players to search for new “festival sites”, which is used as a hub for the players. Though this is nothing new to seasoned players, the gameplay features a Mayan ruin to be used as a festival site, which is rather interesting. Another interesting detail that the developers added was murals that were designed by local Mexican artists, also a nice touch.
Other than the expedition, players can be challenged in their open world battle royale called “The Eliminator”, an arcade mini-game such as “Pinata Pop” and also a fully customizable arcade game where you create everything from the rules to the game itself. The game will also learn what kind of mini-games that you enjoy most and will invite your buddies through ‘Forza Link’ for a round if you are playing them.
Players can use Forza Link, their new AI assistant that tracks your status and the people you meet online through the game. Forza Link also helps you link up with them and play together. After all, this is Forza Horizon, a game where you have to play with friends to fully enjoy it. This is clearly the best Forza Horizon by far with the vibrant cities, diverse landscape and even more cars.
Though it is unsaid how many cars will be in this new Horizon for now, but we are already seeing the Mercedes-AMG Project One, Porsche 911 Safari, the new Land Rover Defender, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, the Chevrolet C8 Corvette, Koenigsegg Jesko and the new Ford Bronco. Seasoned players will also see that we can finally drop the top of cars now as seen in the gameplay trailer. Also, some body kits that are in game such as the one seen on the Evo X and C8 Corvette are designed by Jon Sibal and Khyzyl Saleem among others.
Mark your calendars for November 9 as the game will be released on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (Windows 10) and Xbox’s Cloud Gaming. As someone who has been a PlayStation player for almost 20 years and quite new to the Forza series, this is definitely something I’m looking forward to. Heck, I’ve even put the title into my Steam wishlist. However, the priced is only released in USD, GBP and EUR for now.
