Two models were offered for the GLE Coupé, which are the GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé AMG Line and the performance variant Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé. Both models are equipped with the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. With the sales tax reduction implemented by the government in June, the retail price for the GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé AMG Line and Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé are RM 661,009.42 and RM 787,357.88 respectively.
The Powerplant.
Starting off with the GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé which features increased engine output, all-wheel drive and special chassis components. Under the hood houses the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line turbo engine with EQ Boost, mated with 9G TRONIC automatic transmission generating 267 hp and maximum torque of 520 Nm, which takes just 5.7 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h. On the other hand, the GLE 53 4MATIC+ is powered by an electrified 3.0-litre engine with twin turbocharging generating 435 hp and delivers a maximum torque of 520 Nm. With the help of EQ Boost and AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed automatic transmission, the GLE 53 is able to deliver an additional 22 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. The GLE 53 has additional bits and bots by AMG such as AMG Active Ride Control, AMG performance exhaust system and AMG TRACK PACE.
The Exterior.
As for the exterior, unlike the GLE 450 launched last year, both cars share the sleeker coupe profile with the AMG Line package. Being an AMG model, the GLE 53 equips the distinguished Panamericana front grille, rear diffuser, optional AMG Night package and 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels. Whereas the GLE 450 has the single-slat diamond grille, AMG multi-spoke light-alloys and chrome trim instead.
The Interior.
Moving on to the interior, the AMG Line package comes as standard for both cars, but with minor differences. The GLE 450’s trims are wrapped with Anthracite Oak wood while the GLE 53 has carbon fiber trims. Both cars have nappa leather wrapped on the seats but the GLE 450 has sports seats with 4-way lumbar support whereas the GLE 53 has slightly different seats with nappa leather wrapped AMG Performance steering wheel.
Other Extra Features.
Other features which can be found in both cars are the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, AIRMATIC suspension, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC and Communications module (LTE) for the use of Mercedes me connect services.
