Finally we are able to see Absolute Racing back in the Asian Le Mans Series as they commit a two-car entry in the upcoming 2021 season. The GT racing outfit is no stranger to the scene as they have entered the racing series in previous years, grabbing a number of podiums along the way.
“We've always liked endurance, and everyone has such fond memories of our previous participation in the Asian Le Mans Series. In the world we live in today we are convinced that the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series season presents the right format for an Asia-based team with a global outlook like ours,” said the Team Director of Absolute Racing, Ingo Matter.
“We have been in negotiations with drivers, sponsors and partners, and we are expecting to have two GT cars on the grid at Yas Marina Circuit," he added
Cyrille Taesch Wahlen, the Managing Director of ALMS also added that they are very excited to welcome back the racing outfit to the series. “The team has been hugely successful in Asia and they will be a welcome addition to what is shaping up to be a competitive GT class”.
The upcoming 2021 season for ALMS is going to be a unique run as all the races will be held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. In a season that was usually run in the span of four months, all four rounds will be compressed to two weekends of 4-6 February and 18-20 February.
Absolute Racing was founded back in 2010 by Fabien Fior and Ingo Matter. Both experienced professionals in the motorsports field, the team has grown to be one of the most successful GT and single-seater racing teams in Asia with bases in China, Malaysia and Thailand.
