With the day and age of EVs becoming more inevitable, it makes sense for car manufacturers to diversify their range of vehicles. Companies such as BMW has been at it with their range of hybrids such as the 330e and the 530e over the recent years and they have officially teased a whole line of all-electric vehicles during the launch of their new BMW iX xDrive.
Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “This is a milestone for the BMW Group, even more so for us at BMW Group Malaysia. We have been in the driver’s seat in accelerating innovation, awareness of new and sustainable technology for the automotive industry, shaping the infrastructure for premium electrified vehicles in Malaysia since 2015. Our success in Malaysia today is cemented by our position as the leader in electrified mobility here, which is underlined by an impressive delivery of over 2,200 units of electrified vehicles last year alone.
De Visser added that the incoming fleet of electric vehicles from BMW i will present all the best possibilities of Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure to loyal BMW customers and EV enthusiasts alike in Malaysia, with no compromise. More importantly, it will also drive the All-New Sustainability Strategy for the BMW Group in Malaysia.
Introducing The BMW iX.
Let's begin with something that crosses everyone's mind upon thinking of an EV, range anxiety. BMW Malaysia has stated that the new iX has an impressive range of 630km especially when compared to the Porsche Taycan with only 431km. That being said, the BMW iX has a lot more tech under it's sleeve, or to be more precise, a combination of carbon fiber, aluminium and steel in it's body.
The LED headlights will be a standard feature on the iX xDrive40 while BMW's latest Laserlights are only equipped on the iX xDrive40 Sport and the iX xDrive50 Sport. BMW's Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant will be standard on the iX xDrive40 while the Sport variants will receive a further advanced system such as the Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus. The Harmon Kardon sound system will only be available on the Sport variants as well.
The Sport variants will also get BMW's Interior Applications Clear & Bold offering, which is a sustainably produced, certified wood that's crafted onto the control panel of the center console. The range-topping iX xDrive50 Sport will get the exclusive Integral Active Steering as well as the adaptive 2-axle air suspension. Across the iX range, BMW has incorporated their 'IconicSounds Electric' which is developed with Academy Award winning composer, Hans Zimmer, offering owners a more thrilling sound experience while driving their iX.
BMW Is Bringing The Whole Line Of Electric Cars!
The BMW iX may be an unfamiliar face to some, BMW however will be bringing the electric versions of the regular cars such as the the 4-series and the X3 with their BMW i4 and the BMW iX3. Despite BMW Malaysia not selling these cars yet, customers can register their interest for these cars on BMW's website.
What Packages Are BMW Malaysia Offering?
Owners of electric vehicles in BMW's portfolio can enjoy battery warranties of up to 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first of course. Also, the first 50 customers to pre-book the BMW iX will get additional goodies such as complimentary charging installation as well as complimentary 1-year public charging access. However, the offer will only be available only until 22nd of September 2021 with terms and conditions apply.
With the Balloon Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, the First-Ever BMW iX xDrive40 and the First-Ever BMW iX xDrive40 Sport can be owned with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM 4,888.00 and RM 5,478.00 respectively (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure).
How Much Will The BMW iX Be?
