Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially unveiled the latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars collection with the arrival of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+. This model is introduced just two months after the launch of the E 200 Avantgarde and the E 300 AMG Line which Mercedes characterises as “A New Attitude” for the E-Class design language. However, with the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+, Mercedes introduces outstanding performance and vehicle dynamics at the highest level.As with all other Mercedes ‘AMG 63’, the E 63 S boasts the manufacturer’s 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that produces a staggering 612hp at 5750rpm and 850Nm of torque at 2500rpm. These figures combined launch the E 63 S from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. That being said, while the figures may be similar to the marque’s line of sports cars, the E 63 S is still very much a Mercedes-Benz E-Class on the inside."The new Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+ is the latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars collection. Style and Substance
Apart from receiving the aggressive stylistic elements of an AMG, the new design language carries the facelift’s redesigned LED headlamps, vertical-bar AMG grille. The most notable change in design element is on the rear end with the all-new two-piece LED tail lamp. That being said, there are more AMG stylistic cues such as the flared side sills, twin power domes on the hood including a functional rear diffuser.Owners can select the AMG Night Package which highlights certain exterior panels such as the exterior mirror housings, window frames and trim gloss black. Other than that, you could opt for a black chrome tailpipe and the radiator grille to be specified in a darkened colour. Mercedes will also offer the customers of the AMG 63 cars with carbon fiber exterior package that comprises a front splitter, trim inserts such as the rear apron.The E 63 S now sits on a set of 20-inch, twin 5-spoke alloy wheels. Colours offered on the E 63 S are Polar White, Obsidian Black Metallic, Graphite Grey Metallic, Mojave Silver Metallic, Nautic Blue Metallic, Selenite Grey Metallic, High-tech Silver Metallic, Design Selenite Grey Magno, Designo Spectral Blue Magno, Design Diamond White Bright, Designo and Hyacinth Red Metallic.
A Blend Of Leather & Carbon Fiber
Despite being a performance car, the E 63 S maintains the high qualities of a Mercedes with the seats upholstered in nappa leather with the AMG badge embossed on the headrests of the front seats. One can opt for black/titanium grey pearl with yellow contrasting stitch for the upholstery of the E 63 S as it is now an AMG-specific option. Apart from the upholstery, the new E 63 S carries the AMG Performance steering wheel as standard, upholstered in leather and DINAMICA microfibre. The enhanced ‘Hey Mercedes’ or MBUX is now on the E 63 S as a standard feature and it now understands any commands for the infotainment and vehicle operations. The E 63 S also has AMG-specific displays and settings such as engine data, gear speed indicator, G-meter as well as a built-in RACETIMER. This program provides telemetry data during track events and if owners are interested to set track times.
Into The Belly Of The Beast
While the V8 4.0-litre bi-turbo engine is the same one we’ve come to love, the E 63 S offers cylinder deactivation in “Comfort” mode. Despite being an all-wheel drive vehicle, the E 63 S too now has Drift Mode which can be engaged and disengaged on the fly via the drive programs. The E 63 S can personalise drive programs according to the driver apart from the standard six modes such as ‘Slippery’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’, ‘Sport+’, ‘Individual’ and ‘Race’.The available range extends from efficient and comfortable to very sporty. The modes modify key parameters, such as the response of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering. Independently of the DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs, the driver has the option of switching directly to manual mode, in which gearshifts execute exclusively using the shift paddles on the steering wheel.The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission tuned especially to the requirements of the performance models. The autonomous software enables extremely short shift times and fast multiple downshifts while the double-clutching function makes for an emotive gear shifting experience. A wet multi-plate start-off clutch replaces the torque converter. It saves weight and optimizes response, especially when accelerating or coming off the power.
