If you ask us what would be our favourite BMW, without hesitation we will answer the E30 M3. We have encountered a couple of them in our lifetime including the super rare Evo variant. We have never driven them but according to those that have, it is one of the best driver car that they have experienced.
Well, if the dream to own an E30 M3 is too far-fetched, we would be happy to settle for an E30 coupe like the one in these pictures. From outside this may look like the regular E30 coupe out there but underneath the skin, the owner has put in some twist that made the car different from the rest.
Having owned a couple of M3s (E36 & E46). The owner feels like the E30 would be a lot more fun with a much bigger engine than what it came with when he acquire the car. The mighty S54 is the obvious choice but with how much that engine is going for locally these days, the M54B30 is a much wiser choice for the time being.
Not wanting the headache of constant error lights popping up on the dashboard after the engine conversion, this car has been fitted with a whole new wiring system and Ecumaster EMU Black. All conversion work was done by the up and coming tuner, Raja Imran of MR Proworks. Mated to the engine is Getrag 220 gearbox and finished off with a set of Quaife ATB LSD.
Handling wise, the car has been fitted with Bilstein B8 with custom spring and a set of anti-roll bar from Ultra Racing.
Will it drive as good as an E30 M3? Probably not but that doesn’t stop the owner from driving enjoying it along his recent trip to Phatthalung together with a couple other classic 3 series BMWs.
Oh and we love the plaid fabric that this car is donning in the interior. You can never go wrong with it for a classic euro such as this E30.
